- Provides technical expertise in own area of work and experience. Makes interpretations and correlations of basic data as required to make a complete and comprehensive analysis.
- Develops the documentation for the test methods, to comply with SATORP Laboratory Analytical Methods Manual ISO9000/ISO14000/ISO17025 and HSE requirements.
- Conducts standard run checks to ensure instruments' accuracy and reliability. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and retain laboratory equipment in good condition.
- Monitors the performance of instruments, reagents and methodology, acts to take preventive action to avoid the non-conformity. Reports out-of-order and out-of-calibration instruments to the direct supervisor in a timely manner.
- Train technicians to analyze the samples to comply with standard methods. Coordinates with Lab shift supervisor for analyzing the special samples from process and guides for proper handling of the samples and preparation of the sample for testing, for methodology for the analysis.
- Schedules and calibrates the Instruments as per the required frequency and maintains the records.
- Receives Laboratory Equipment Repair Requests, troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, investigates causes of instrument failure and repairs defective instrumentation and contacts equipment vendors in case of major problems.
- Maintains a workable level of spare parts and consumables for equipment maintenance. Prepares purchase orders, fills, issues request forms for warehouse storage, and updates spare parts records.
- Performs other duties such as preparing the annual budget for spare parts purchasing, attending staff meetings, preparing activity reports and adhering to safety and housekeeping regulations.
- Bachelor or Diploma in Chemical/Chemistry or Industrial chemistry.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Petrochemical laboratory testing.
