Learn more about our in our .Project Overview:Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.Job Summary:In this role, you will lead the development of environmental systems, applications, and procedures for a project. You will lead investigations, conduct complex environmental engineering studies, prepare remediation plans, and evaluate proposed regulations. You will research and develop new technologies and practices and recommend solutions to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects.Major Responsibilities:
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the environmental engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group​
  • Develops environmental systems, applications, and procedures​
  • Coordinates environmental engineering efforts with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​
  • Conducts environmental engineering studies and prepares environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permits​
  • Conducts investigations and prepares remediation work plans and reports​
  • Researches and develops new technologies and practices to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects​
  • Monitors pollution prevention activities and designs processes to effectively treat waste​
  • Works with industrial health experts to ensure a safe work environment​
  • Provides technical assistance to other Environmental Engineering personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards​
  • Ensures compliance with government regulations and keeps abreast of new environmental engineering policies and technologies​
  • When delegated, provides guidance to other environmental engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects​
  • Reviews and checks work of others as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experienceRequired Knowledge and Skills:
  • Sound experience in supporting engineering projects for assuring the early integration of environmental and permitting criteria into the design.
  • Clear understanding of engineering requirements for the environmental assessment process according to the local/national regulation and standards.
  • Analytical thinking for defining the permitting strategy of a project, calculation of emissions, calculation of wastes and wastewater
  • Experience in mining sector.
  • Team leadership, proactive, collaborative and multidisciplinary work.
