
Mechanical Site Engineer

- Oversee on-site mechanical works—HVAC, plumbing & drainage, and fire-fighting—in line with Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Plan daily/weekly activities; allocate manpower, materials, and equipment; maintain an accurate site log.
- Coordinate interfaces with electrical and civil teams to resolve clashes (openings, sleeves, supports, shafts) before installation.
- Manage and close technical queries/Requests for Information (RFIs); review coordination and shop drawings for constructability.
- Supervise installation of ducting, piping, pumps, valves, Fan Coil Units (FCUs), Air Handling Units (AHUs), and chillers; verify routing, supports, insulation, and access/maintenance clearances.
- Coordinate and witness system tests and commissioning activities (pressure/leak tests, flushing, chlorination, Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing—TAB) with vendors and authorities; confirm readiness for approvals.
- Update redlines and support as-built drawings; compile handover dossiers (Operations & Maintenance—O\&M—manuals, commissioning records, snag/close-out).
- Enforce Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) procedures on site (toolbox talks, permits to work, hot-work, Lockout/Tagout—LOTO, risk assessments/Job Safety Analysis—JSA).
- Track progress and variations; report to the Construction/Project Manager; assist with quantity take-offs and change claims.
- Liaise with consultants/clients for inspections, approvals, and punch-list clearance; manage subcontractor and labor performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–8 years of site experience within a Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) contracting environment.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing & drainage, and fire-fighting systems; familiarity with American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), and International Plumbing Code (IPC) standards.
- Ability to read and interpret IFC, coordination and shop drawings, schematics, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P\&IDs).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; exposure to Revit for Building Information Modeling (BIM) preferred; basic scheduling skills in Microsoft Project or Primavera (P6).
- Experience coordinating testing & commissioning (pressure tests, flushing/chlorination, TAB, functional testing).
- Working knowledge of HSE systems (permits, risk assessments, incident reporting).
- Strong coordination and communication skills; experience supervising subcontractors and labor crews.
- Regional experience (e.g., GCC) and a valid driving license preferred, if applicable to project/location.
