- Oversee the transportation of raw materials (e.g., metals, alloys) to the production floor and the delivery of finished castings to customers or warehouses.
- Manage the scheduling of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate with external freight providers and ensure adherence to delivery schedules and cost-efficiency.
- Supervise the movement of heavy and oversized steel components, ensuring proper handling and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with the warehouse and procurement teams to ensure the seamless flow of materials, including managing transportation schedules for raw materials and finished products.
- Ensure that material deliveries are tracked, and inventory is updated accordingly in the ERP system.
- Assist in coordinating logistics for stock replenishment, including transport planning and cost estimation.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize delivery routes and minimize transportation costs while maintaining efficiency.
- Ensure all logistics activities are performed within the allocated budget and identify opportunities to reduce logistics expenses without compromising service quality.
- Monitor fuel consumption, delivery times, and other performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of logistics operations.
- Supervise logistics staff, including drivers, warehouse personnel, and external service providers.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, productivity targets, and company policies.
- Provide training and development opportunities for the logistics team to improve skills, safety awareness, and operational efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative work environment with internal departments to improve the overall logistics process.
- Ensure all logistics operations comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, particularly for transporting hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, scrap).
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure that vehicles and material handling equipment are properly maintained and safe to operate.
- Ensure the proper handling, transportation, and storage of heavy and oversized items, including compliance with transportation safety regulations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of logistics processes, focusing on reducing lead times, minimizing transportation costs, and improving customer satisfaction.
- Implement Lean principles and other best practices to optimize the flow of materials and minimize waste in logistics operations.
- Evaluate and recommend new logistics technologies or solutions to improve transportation efficiency and tracking systems.
- Bachelorβs degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
- 3β5 years of experience in logistics or transportation management, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment, such as steel foundries or metal industries.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and logistics management systems.
- Experience with logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and fleet management systems.
- Ability to manage a team, communicate effectively, and resolve logistics-related issues efficiently.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills to manage complex logistics operations.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and shipping documentation.
