- Assign tasks to the Process Engineers and Section Managers, coordinate and monitor their activity
- Cooperate and supervise together with Maintenance and Rolling Mill Manager the production line, mainly with respect to planning, costing and logistics
- Provide both technical and managerial support to the COO in order to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness in his area
- Monitor and control the metallurgy and schedule of the process and ensure continuation of operation
- Identify initiatives and process improvements to minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital
- Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while meeting required steel billets quality standards
- Ensuring all positions within the steel making area are properly staffed and co-ordinated in to regular shifts to perform duties effectively
- Define the Steel Making Plant annual budget figures and materials requirement then follow up the procurement and delivery of requested consumables and spare parts
- Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.
- Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes and enforce shift schedule stability to allow for maximum return due to learning efficiencies and know-how
- Follow up on the execution of product cost reduction plan to identify potential areas for cost reduction
- Follow up and supervise the preparation of plant work standard and enforce compliance with company standards and policies
- Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
- Keep the plant clean and enforce HSE standards to protect personnel and equipment
- Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas
- Manage and report on the plant breakdowns and lessons learned from problem solving process
- Prepare the technical reports and operating manuals requested by COO
- Prepare plant trouble shooting manual which covers all plant process / working areas and how to avoid frequent troubles and coordinate with Maintenance department experts
- Provide strong leadership to the employees at the plants, ensuring high morale, team work and good employee relations, at all levels
- Motivate subordinates through training programs, enhance their skills and generate competition spirit to reach the internal national performance standard
- Ensure that all employees pursue the HSE training
- Proactively pursue personal training opportunities to deepen subject matter expertise and managerial skills
- Assure that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion
- Engineering degree (Mechanical or Metallurgical degree preferred)
- 15+ years' experience at a senior level in a similar steel manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership skills
